We aim to install EV charging stations in around 4 weeks from Distribution Network Operator (DNO) approval. However, it is often sooner than this.
See below to learn more about the Distribution Network Operator (DNO).
A Distribution Network Operator (DNO) manages the electricity distribution from the national grid to homes and businesses.
DNO approval is a requirement for every EV charger installation in the UK to ensure your local network can handle the demand for an EV charger. Gaining approval typically takes a few weeks. Potential delays can also occur if additional work is needed on your property before we can install your charger. For example, if you need a fuse upgrade or your supply needs unlooping.
We have no control over the DNO approval process or how long additional work can take, and unfortunately, we cannot influence DNO-related delays. We can only offer an installation date once we have received the go-ahead from the DNO.
Please be aware that while most DNO work won’t incur any charges, in some cases, you may be responsible for any DNO costs.
Electric vehicle chargepoint grant for households with on-street parking
You can get £350 if you own or rent a home with viable on-street parking. The council must confirm the parking. You must also install a cross-pavement charging solution before getting a home EV charger.
Permission is required from your local council to qualify for the grant.
Closing date – 31 March 2025
Electric vehicle chargepoint grant for renters and flat owners
UK residents living in flats, apartments, or rented properties can receive a £350 OZEV grant for a home EV charger installation.

Workplace Charging Scheme
The Workplace Charging Scheme covers up to 75% of EV charging point costs, with a maximum of £350 per socket. While typically aimed at commercial businesses, if your business is officially registered at your home, as shown by your VAT or incorporation certificate, you can claim £350.
Closing date – 31 March 2025
Eligibility differs for each grant scheme, but installations must always be undertaken by an OZEV (Office for Zero Emission Vehicles) approved installer, such as We Power Your Car. We can claim all eligible grants on your behalf.

All our engineers are fully trained, vetted, certified and DBS-checked. We are also rated “Excellent” on Trustpilot, with over 800 happy customers.
A tethered EV charger has the charging cable permanently attached to the charging unit.
With an untethered/socketed charger, you must use your own charging cable and connect and disconnect the charging cable whenever you want to charge.
One type of EV charger is not better than the other. It’s a personal choice on which you choose. Untethered EV chargers offer the most flexibility, while tethered chargers offer ultimate convenience.
